Products & Product Creation, Integration

Why is my created product not transferred to eBay (error 240)?

When you create products for eBay, the following error may occur:

AddItem: 240 – Error – The item cannot be listed or modified. The title and/or description may contain improper words or the listing or seller may be in violation of eBay policy.

Despite the fact that the error code only refers to the item name and/or description, there may be several reasons for this problem.

  1. You are new to eBay
If this is your first eBay product, create it directly via your eBay account. Then you can delete this first product and create new products via Shirtee.Cloud.
  2. You have none or not enough positive reviews
Make sure that you have enough positive reviews. Otherwise, eBay may not let you create any more products.
  3. You use prohibited terms
A part of the product name and/or description violates eBay’s policies. This can be just a single word or a sequence of words. To solve the problem, change your product name and description.
  4. Maximum sales limit reached
It is possible that you have reached your limit of sold products or sales. If this is the case, it is best to contact eBay support directly.
  5. Terms and conditions of sale not yet accepted
Just check your eBay account to see if you have already accepted the new terms and conditions of sale.
  6. Email address or “@” in text
eBay does not allow the use of email addresses in product names or descriptions. So check all texts again for an email address or an “@”.
  7. Incorrect category
Double check that you have correctly assigned the category for the product.
  8. Incorrect item location
Double check that the item location is correctly selected for your product.
